69 To prepare the surface before lining swimming pools, contact the Technical Support Department of DUROSTICK. Application on floors, stairs and swimming pools Empty the content of container B into container A. Mix with a low-rpm electric mixer for approximately 2 minutes, until the mixture is homogenized. Then, in a suitable size container, empty the homogenized QUARTZ DECO PU resin mixture (or QUARTZ DECO EPOXY for interior floor surfaces or swimming pools) and add one bag of the QUARTZ DECO aggregates. Mix until completely homogenized. In any case, the complete coverage of the aggregates with the binding resin must be ensured. Apply the mixture (appropriate RESIN + QUARTZ DECO) using a metal trowel with rounded edges. Press the mixture onto the application surface, taking care not to leave any gaps and/or any excess product/mixture. FLOORS OF INTERIOR SPACES After completing the application on an interior space floor, and once the surface is walkable (approximately 48 hours), and clean from any dust, a protective varnish can be applied as an option. The two-component epoxy varnish with gloss finish DECOFIN EPOXY SF. Its consumption ranges at 300gr/m2. Its application creates a flat surface that is easy to clean, while at the same time showcasing and highlighting the natural beauty of QUARTZ DECO aggregates. Application of the hybrid binding resin QUARTZ DECO HYBRID Surface preparation before the application on walls All application surfaces must be flat, sound, free from loose materials, dust, grease, oils, and they also must be completely dry. The moisture content of the substrate should not exceed 5%. The application of the mixture should be done only on properly prepared surfaces. For new plaster surfaces, at least 15 days must have passed from their completion. Marble-based plaster surfaces, that are deteriorated or detached, must first be repaired using the fast - setting repair plaster D-32 or the flexible multipurpose cementitious mortar MEGAFIX. Concrete surfaces affected by carbonation must be removed and then repaired with the rapid set repair mortar DS-245 POWER MORTAR RAPID or the rapid set repair mortar with corrosion inhibitor DS-247 of DUROSTICK. Absorbent surfaces that are not subjected to repairs are simply primed using the micromolar stabilizer AQUAFIX of DUROSTICK, undiluted. All repaired surfaces must be primed with AQUAFIX, at least 3 days after the completion of the repair(s). Application on walls In a suitable size container, empty the QUARTZ DECO HYBRID resin and add one bag of the QUARTZ DECO aggregates. Mix with a low-rpm electric mixer and a plastic paddle until completely homogenized. In any case, the complete coverage of the aggregates with the binding resin and their uniform distribution must be ensured. Apply the mixture with a steel trowel with rounded edges, by pressing the mixture at an angle of 15° That angle makes the smoothing of the surface easier’. Work the mixture from the bottom up or by applying in the same direction without leaving, any gaps and/or any excess product/ mixture. The surface is smoothed, down to the maximum grain size, while the mixture is still fresh. Leftovers of the mixture that have fallen onto the floor during the application may be reused while they are still fresh but only if no foreign bodies were stuck to it. It is recommended to mix the mixture frequently during the application.
